Love Twitter search! It was a tool I used often in a previous job and used it to drive numerous sales, instead of just trying to get a bunch of followers and retweets. I set up an RSS feed of my various searches and checked Google Reader each morning like it was email. Also search for competitors to find people that are complaining about them and use that to convert them to your side of the fence

I also like @keepstream, because it allows me to save content, makes writing summaries after an event a lot easier.

I'd recommend that everybody take an accounting class. People always underestimate the ability to read an income statement or understand how a balance sheet works. These are important skills for any business.

Of course, it all depends on your chosen career path. However, any internet-related skills you can pick up in college, regardless of degree, is almost always going to be a huge plus in the job market. Basic HTML knowledge is not hard to pick up, but will almost always be something that sets you apart from others (especially in marketing). You don't have to be an uber web designer, but being able to handle light HTML editing when making some content changes to a web page can really relieve strain on dedicated web developers and make you a very valuable resource.

Another basic skill set that is often overlooked is word processing and spreadsheet experience. You would be surprised at the number of people that can not perform basic functions inside these types of applications.

Great post Will. One to add...

Only provide quotes for serious inquiries.

Because I have a simple "Request a Quote" form on my site, I get a lot of emails from people wondering about the cost of a web site. I put time and effort into my quotes I provide because they include details on the goals, features, scope and timeline of the project. For this reason, I have a screening process to rule out what I like to call "tire-kickers". I have found that by requiring the completion of a questionnaire (followed up by a phone conversation) eliminates about half the inquiries I get through my web site. If a potential client isn't willing to fill out this questionnaire, it's doubtful that they have put too much thought into their web site and are perhaps not serious about project overall.

In business, saying NO is a very hard skill to learn. But a necessary one if you're goal is to run a successful business.
